Writing Activity - 20 minutes

Day 2 - Connecting to a Special Grown Up

  1. Use your planning page from yesterday and use your ideas to write sentences about your special grown-up

  2. Try to write 5-6 sentences about your grown-up

  3. Use separate paper or print off the inter-lined paper below (We will edit and draw our picture on Thursday)

** I have included an example of what I wrote about my grandma for you to look at

Daily Calendar - 5 minutes

  • Review today's date: Tuesday, May 5th

  • Briefly talk about the weather today and what it is like outside

  • Count the days of school: today is day 144

    • Count: 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144

  • Today's secret number clues:

    • I am worth more than one dime

    • I am an even number

    • I am between 13 and 15

    • What am I?

Word Work Activity - 20 minutes

Making BIG Words

*Click on the top right of the document to the left and it should open as a google doc to print. If you are unable to print, write the words on a piece of paper or spell them aloud.

  • Use the template provided here and cut out each letter

  1. Have students try to make 10 words on their own using the letters provided. Challenge your child to try to make words that are three or more letters long.

  2. All the letters together make one big word. In class, I slowly give them clues in a 'hangman' style fill in the blanks as to the big word to help them guess it.
