Writing Activity - 25 minutes

Day 3: Editing and Publishing of 'Connecting to Me'

  • Show your parent your story strip from yesterday

  • Have them edit your spelling and punctuation

  • Do you need to change any spelling? Is your writing clear and easy to understand? Is your printing neat?

  • Once it is edited, re-write your finished product with the correct spelling and punctuation onto the publishing template I have included below (PDF file)

  • Draw a final picture to represent your writing and color it

  • Display your published writing where your whole family can see it!! Great job!!

Science Experiment: Lightning in a Jar

Materials: tinfoil, glass container with metal lid, dryer sheet, thumbtacks or pushpins, elastic band, balloon, wool blanket or your hair

  • Follow the directions in the video to the left to try and make a spark of lightning in your container.

Daily Calendar - 5 minutes

  • Review today's date: Thursday, April 30th

  • Briefly talk about the weather today and what it is like outside

  • Count the days of school: today is day 141

    • Count: 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 141

    • Talk about the number 141 and the digits in each place value column. How many groups of 100? How many groups of 10? How many ones?

  • Today's secret number clues:

    • I am an even number

    • I am less than 90

    • I come next in this pattern: 48, 58, 68, 78, ______

    • What am I?

Physical Education Activity - 30 minutes

Ensure you are getting 30 minutes of physical activity per day :)
