This was a long season for local fans of the NFL.

As Kermit the Frog once said, “It’s not easy being green.” The saying could be said for the Green and White, otherwise known as the New York Jets, who endured one of the worst seasons in the team’s history. The same goes for their cross-town rivals, the New York Giants. This year Big Blue was left black and blue, in what was a head-scratching season. Both teams struggled mightily, but for different reasons. With the 2021 season in the rear-view mirror, both teams have no choice but to look ahead.
Going into this past season, the Jets were clearly going through a rebuild. They added a new coaching staff, including Heach Coach Robert Saleh, offensive coordinator Mike Lafleur, and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. They had also drafted quarterback Zach Wilson with the second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Despite knowing that he would likely face the regular struggles of a rookie, they had hoped to see improvement from Wilson as the season progressed. Unfortunately, injuries to the quarterback early on, and a horrible year by the defensive unit led to various blowouts and a disappointing 4-13 record.
While things look bad for Jets fans, one could argue that Giants fans have more to be upset about. Many fans are questioning who will become the next head coach for the Giants after the firing of Joe Judge. The Giants were plagued by injuries at key positions, including Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard, and Kadarius Toney. Considering the star players were injured and the backups got meaningful playing time, allowed fans to see that the team lacks depth and talent. Much like the Jets, the Giants suffered through one of the worst seasons in the franchise’s history, finishing the season with a record of 4-13.
Though both teams find themselves at the bottom of the NFL's final power rankings, it is clear that the Jets are miles ahead. After all, the Jets have found themselves a quarterback to lead them for the next decade but for the Giants, the question of who will be their starting quarterback in September remains unclear.

At the end of last season, the Mets and the Yankees were both left disappointed at the outcome of their year. The Mets led their division for most of the season, but fell apart– both on and off the field. The Yankees however were the preseason favorites to win the World Series. They made the playoffs, but were not able to go very far since most of their players had a career low year. However, a new season brings with it renewed hope.
Though baseball is currently under a lockout, with the MLB and the Players Association working to agree on a new contract, it is expected that baseball will return soon. When it does, the Mets may feel that they’re ready to take a step forward. Over the offseason, the Mets hired Buck Showalter, a veteran manager who is respected throughout the league. The Mets have also added star players including pitcher Max Scherzer and outfielder Starling Marte. These signings are possible because the Mets are owned by the richest owner in baseball, Steve Cohen.
Meanwhile, in the Bronx they are desperately awaiting the end of the lockout, as they hope to sign star players at key positions, including shortstop. The Yankees are hoping that players Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are able to stay relatively healthy, as they will be needed to make a playoff run. They will also need bounce back years from Gleyber Torres, DJ Lemahieu, and Gary Sanchez. After the disappointing end to last season, it is clear that the Bronx Bombers need bullpen help, as well as extra starting pitching, which they are short on.
While both teams have high expectations for the upcoming season, it is unclear whether or not they will be good enough to make a run in the playoffs. However, fans are eagerly waiting for a championship to return to the Big Apple.

Super Bowl 56/LVI being hosted in Los Angeles is one of the biggest Super Bowl’s to date. I’m Gavin Moyano and let’s get to the Super Bowl. The bracket is quite a surprise . Lamar Jackson and his ravens team did not make the playoffs. Here are the teams: For NFC the bucs are playing the eagles, Cowboys are playing 49ers, Rams are playing cardinals and packers get a buy. For the AFC the chiefs are playing steelers, bills are playing the patriots, bengals are playing raiders and titans get a buy. This is going to be a good super bowl.
