Background: Angelo Pecunia was a marine in the United States army who served during the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was a controversial war between the U.S and Vietnam from November 1, 1955 – April 30, 1975. The conflict between the U.S and Vietnam grew during the cold war which left 3 million casualties.
Phillip - “Hello, nice to meet you. Can you describe a little bit of yourself?”
Angelo - “My name is Angelo Pecunia and I served as a Marine in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.”
Phillip - “I just have a couple of questions for you.”
Q - “What rank were you last in and how many years did you serve for?”
A - “I served for 2 years and was a specialist 4.”
(An army specialist is a junior enlisted rank in the U.S. Army
and is equivalent in pay to a corporal. The rank of specialist is
an position that typically involves basic management duties
as well as commanding lower-ranked soldiers)
Q - “Why did you join the military?”
A - “I wanted to serve and protect our country.”
Q - “How would you describe the military experience?”
A - “Well it makes us a better person, builds character, not complain, work with others and serve our country.”
Q - “Did you form a bond/relationship with people in the military?”
A - “Yes I did, the military made me feel like others were my brothers.”
Q - “What was your most memorable time during your time in the military?”
A - “In the states when you enter the military, you go through basic training. It takes 3-4 months with a mentor. They offered me a place at officer school but I declined.”
Q - “Was your family supportive of your decision to join the military?”
A - “My father wanted me to leave but other than that my family was very supportive.”
Q - “How were you treated when you returned home?”
A - “Since the Vietnam War was controversial, people didn’t think the war should've been fought. So when we returned home, we were not treated well.
Q - “Overall do you recommend joining the military?”
A - “Yes, the military offers a great experience for you and it helps develop your character.”

Stephen Lombardo is the 6th grade assistant principal of I.S 201 Dyker Heights. He can be as funny as a comedian, and serious as a philosopher. Mr.Lombardo is known for being friendly and kind. He cracks funny jokes during lunch to make students laugh.

“Staff that’s excited to support our students in learning. Dedicated to your success.”
What are some words/advice for our current Mighty Knights?
“Nothing is off limits. Always be kind to each other. You can be who you want to be and what you want to be with, with the right amount of dedication.”
What do you think is the best part about being an educational leadership?
“My favorite thing is watching you become young adults, and excel academically.”
What do you plan on doing for the upcoming midwinter break?
“I plan to take my son snow tubing.”
If you could change anything about the school, what would it be?
“I think the changes we’re making today are what I want the school to be.”
What are your interests or hobbies outside of school?
“I like baseball, and I like taking my son to the park.”
What other jobs have you considered other than being an educator?
“Sports broadcasting.”
What inspired you to be an educator?
“My cousin, who has a learning disability.”

“My time management skills.”

“Turn over in leadership resulting in changes without seeing through previously established programs.”
