CENTRAL OPERATIONS RESOURCES GUIDE

We are happy to share this operational resource with you, which we hope will serve as a valuable guide to understand the context of what our team does, how our department operates, and the DOE policies that frame our work together.

The information on this site is obtained from our Operations Guide, which is a DECE-centric version of the larger DOE Administrative Operations Reference Guide, which is structured to provide an overview of how Operations works, within the DOE at large. The policies which have been established for the 1800+ schools, and 14 central teams, are helpful to become familiar with as you do your programmatic planning, as we believe that they set a solid foundation to work from, ensuring that the ideas generated by your team, are able to become a reality in adherence with city and DOE regulations.

We welcome you to review this at your pace and to provide feedback to our team on additional information that may be helpful, and/or unclear. This has been developed to demystify and bring awareness to our work, so all perspectives are welcomed.

WHO IS DECE OPERATIONS, & WHAT DO WE DO?

Our role is to provide strategic operational guidance to the division while ensuring that resources are being allocated and utilized appropriately. We are responsible for operationalizing the instructional and programmatic needs of the division and maintain a commitment to a solutions-orientated approach as we know that some concepts that are developed may actually be difficult to navigate in existing DOE structures.

We prioritize building strong relationships with our internal and external partners and create opportunities to cross-train, knowledge share and discuss best practices. This is the full listing of program teams that we work with internally within the division. The Central Operations team is part of the larger Finance and Operations team, which includes the following:

Human Resource Support for DECEs Program and Sub-teams

Manages and supports the entire Division of Early Childhood Education in Budget, Facilities, Purchasing Support for Program and Sub-teams

Manages and supports Program Operations, Budget, Facilities, and Contract support for DECEs providers
