Math Relays
Math Relay Team
Sponsor: Mrs. Shelly Sconce
Club Description
Math students currently enrolled in Geometry, Algebra 2, Honors Algebra 2, Math Analysis or Calculus attend math contests where they compete with students from schools around the state of Missouri and Kansas. Students take a variety of grade appropriate math tests. Tests are graded and students receive medals/ribbons for placing in the top five per test. Tests are taken individually as well as teams and awards given accordingly.
Students are recognized as a group at the end of the school year at the awards presentation and individual students are recognized if they have "lettered."
How to Join
Students are invited to join by either Mrs. Sconce or Mr. Bartley. Most students are in the top 20% of their respective math class.
Meetings
Are held only on the day of the relay. Relays are primarily held on Saturdays. Students are given as much advance notice as possible.
Club Dues
None are required. The only cost a student might incur is the cost of the team t-shirt ($5)
Benefits
Without a doubt, the greatest benefit to the student is preparation for the ACT test or any other test requiring math compentency.
