CLEP Exams
College-Level Examination Program
(CLEP)
The College-Level Examination Program or CLEP provides students with the opportunity to earn college credit before they ever set foot on a college campus! How does this program work? Students take a test for a fee of $77.00 in a subject area that they excel in and if they pass the test, they earn college credit! A vast majority of colleges and universities in the state of Missouri grant CLEP credit. For more information on this program, you can check it out on the web at www.collegeboard.com/clep or you can call (800) 257-9558.
Why take CLEP exams?
By taking one or more CLEP exams in your strong subjects, you'll......
•Save time. Get college credit for what you already know. Be rewarded for what you've learned through independent study and advanced high school courses.
•Save money. CLEP examinations cost $77.00. When one compares this to the cost of a 3 credit hour college level course, there is the potential to save hundreds of dollars. CLEP exams are free to military service members.
•Make college more interesting. By passing CLEP courses, students are able to bypass entry level college courses and move on to more advanced material.
•Graduate on time. CLEP can assist in helping a student graduate on time if they are short a few credit hours.
•Satisfy a proficiency requirement. Demonstrate you've already mastered the content of, for example, a basic math or language course. Great for dual-degree candidates or students just a few credits shy of graduation.
