GOAL(s): What was the goal (or goals) of the experience? What did you plan to accomplish/learn? What resources did you plan to use? Why did you choose this topic/product/placement?
To improve my mental, physical, and emotional health, as well as work on advocating for my boundaries and practicing self-care. Different resources I can use for this project include: People in the guidance department and on the mental health board, as well as basic internet research. I chose this topic, as I find it hard to practice self care in school sometimes. As students (and teachers as well), we are constantly bombarded with possible things to stress over. Homework not being done, being late to class, figuring out relationships- it's no wonder we're all stressed out. So I wanted to figure out how I personally can do better on bettering my health in school, physically, mentally, and emotionally. To do this, I vlogged about my experiences and also met with many professionals.
OUTCOME: What were the actual outcomes? Did you meet your goals?
I created a vlog about my experiences, and met with 4 different professionals to talk about self care. I also feel like I have more resources than I started with! So I would say I improved my mental, physical, and emotional health.
REFLECTION: What did you learn through this project/process? What were your take-a-ways? What worked for you? What didn't work for you? What challenges did you face? What would you do differently in the future?
A lot of this is addressed in my video, but here's my written reflection:
I chose this project because I felt like if I had a project about self care, it would force me to practice it. But I didn't expect the actual outcome. I thought that while the project was going on, practicing self care would be an all the time thing, and that I would get immediate results. But now after the project is ending, I feel like I'm practicing self care even more. It's almost like this project set my up to succeed, instead of having me actively succeed? I did have successes during this project, but I feel like I'm truly about to/already flourishing. I think this term was really stressful for me, and learning more about self care got me to think about it more, which in turn got me practicing it more. If I were to do this project again, I think written journaling would help me to reflect even more (I was going to journal, but I ended up vlogging more), and I also would develop more habits along the way. For example, I just started an awesome nighttime routine, which has helped me practice self care. It's just about taking the new information I learned during this project and applying it to the rest of my terms.
EVIDENCE: What evidence can you show to support your reflection and outcomes? Include items such as: project plans, research notes, journals, photos/videos, final products, audio recordings, feedback, etc).
A lot of my evidence is in the presentation below! Here is a list of them, in order of when to click on them and what they are.
