Flex day (Friday) can be used for independent practice of skills, extension activities, or catching up on unfinished work.
** Keep in mind, these activities can be spread out among independent work days.**
Set up your white board with an odd and an even column.
Roll 2 dice.
Write an addition equation to match the dice.
Look at the sum (the answer in the addition equation).
Put a tally under odd if the sum is odd or under even if the sum is even.
Who will win...Odd or Even? The first to 10 tally marks is your winner!
Looking for a challenge? Make your addition equation using 3 dice!
Looking for a more hands-on experience? Use your unifix cubes or another manipulative at home to make the sum of your equation. Try to seperate the blocks into two equal groups. If the number can be separated equally, the number is even. If the number cannot be split evenly, the number is odd.
