The Pioneer Builders of Rancho San Pablo

Francisco María Castro come as a boy with his family to California from Mexico with the De Anza Expedition. The De Anza Expedition of 1775 brought many Spanish settlers from Mexico to Northern California, known then as Alta California, Nueva España. Soon after, an area of over 17,00 acres was granted to Castro and became Rancho San Pablo (Cuchiyunes). It was the beginning of many others who followed and came to settle in the beautiful valley whose village was situated between the two creeks.
