Students observing Ramadan can now pick up meals to take home
From March 3 to March 28, our Nutrition Services team will provide “Ramadan Meals to Go” for students who are unable to eat during regular school meal times.
Important Notes:
Students who are fasting can pick up a grab-and-go meal package at school while school is in session.
Each package includes one breakfast and one lunch to take home.
Meals are non-meat and shelf-stable, making them easy to store and eat later.
Adults are not allowed to pick up meals. Students must receive their own meals.
This program is made possible through a special waiver from the California Department of Education (CDE), allowing students to take meals home instead of eating at school.
Please help share this information with families who may be interested.

Did you know?
Ramadan is a special month for Muslims, marked by fasting from sunrise to sunset, prayer and reflection. This year, it is expected to begin on Feb. 28 and end on March 30, with Eid-ul-Fitr on April 1 or 2, depending on the moon sighting.
For many students, Ramadan is more than just fasting. It is a time to focus on kindness, patience and personal growth. While most students continue their regular activities, some may feel more tired, have trouble concentrating or need short breaks, especially in the afternoon. Offering a quiet space during lunch or adjusting physical activities can help support them.
Some students may also take a short break for Zuhr (noon) prayer, which falls during school hours. Schools can help by providing a quiet place to pray. Families might not attend after-school events as often since they are preparing to break their fast at sunset. A small but thoughtful way to show support is by saying "Ramadan Mubarak" or "Ramadan Kareem."
When Ramadan ends, students may take a day off to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families. Schools do not need to make major changes, but small acts of awareness and flexibility can help students feel supported and included during this meaningful time.
