PTSA General Meeting

6:00 pm

Welcome and Opening Remarks

   -In attendance; -Meeting was called to order at 6:02 pm by Tracie Hewitt (President),

People in attendance: Tracie Hewitt (President),  Barb Lezon (Scholarships),  Evelyn Welborn (Principal), Shannon Fox (teacher and parent), Jennifer Flohr (Events),  Chrystal Bernasconi (VP)

Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: Michelle Pearson, Secretary

   - Review and approval of the minutes from the previous meeting at the next meeting. Minutes will be on the website and link will be sent out. Motion to approve by Fox and seconded by Hewitt.

Admin Report: Evelyn Welborn, Principal

 -Staffing Updates

• Honegger is the new Counselor, coming from Barrett

• Shannon Fox new Student Government Advisor

-PD updates

• Magic School AI training

• Go Guardian

• EL support and student misuse of AI

• EL teacher cohort has begun meeting. Discussions focused on reciprocal teaching

• Possible new classes: dance, basketball, yoga, and stained glass

President's Report: Tracie Hewitt

• need to start nominating committee- Chrystal has a new job (school registrar) 

Vice President's Report: Chrystal Bernasconi

• Paint Night!!!

Treasurer's Report: Becka Stephensen (not present)

• Check going to Country Club

• Sees candy fundraiser was not successful

Secretary’s Report: Michelle Pearson

• March 3 newsletter due

Student Report: 

Not present

Hospitality Report: Holly Fales (not present)

• soups and salads were yummy!

  • To-go boxes were helpful

Scholarship Report: Barb Lezon 

• Met this weekend (Barb, Kara, Mary, Sally, Tracy, Kimberly)

• Scholarship open date: 2/24

• Close date: 4/11

• Awardees selected: 5/1

• Have a check for $1500 from donor to give to Becka

• Another donor wants to add $5000 for each of his scholarships

Events Report: Jennifer Flohr

• Need volunteers for the upcoming Air Shows. Nonprofits that would like to work Saturday or Sunday;  6am-2pm

• They will donate $50 per volunteer to the PTSA. 

• Require one-third of volunteers to attend a training on March 20. Possible training on Zoom

• Looking for seniors, AVID is possibly interested in helping

• Examine closely are readers accessing newsletter on Talking Points (are parents accessing it?)

• Grad Night event: Friday, June 6

  • Avid and Student govt said they'll go help solicit donations

  • Not as excited to talk to the community, will follow up with Sarah

  • Another deposit check for Country club 

  • Still working on entertainment: tarot card reader, Karaoke, etc.

  • Giving out water bottles 20oz at grad night (no year)

• Best of El Camino 2025

  • First committee meeting, looking for more volunteers -doesn’t have to be alumni

  • Deciding how many tables we might sell, ticket prices (including food)
