El Camino Fundamental High School
PTSA General Meeting 7:00 p.m.
1. Welcome and Opening Remarks
- Meeting called to order at 7:03 p.m by Tracie Hewitt
People in attendance: Meghan Wilson, Chrystal Bernasconi, Barbara Lezon, Julie West, Becka Stephensen, Jennifer Flohr, Tracie Hewitt, and Shannon Fox
2. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: Shannon Fox, Secretary
- Chrystal B. motioned to approve, Julie W. seconded.
3. Admin Report: Vice Principal, Meghan Wilson
- AP Testing started today.
- The Master Schedule is finished for next year.
- Due to funding from Prop 28, there will be a guitar class offered next year, and the choir teacher will be full-time and will offer Music Appreciation.
- There are a lot of senior activities over the next couple of weeks.
- El Camino offers AP Seminar and AP Research which allows graduates to get a capstone diploma, which is looked well upon by admission offices.
- For the 24-25 school year, attending a PTSA meeting will be a required job in Student Council so we should have a student in attendance.
4. Student Report: Chrystal Bernasconi representing the Native American Youth Club.
- Shirts have been received and with the profit they have purchased stickers.
5. President's Report: Tracie Hewitt
- Morgan Stanley - This is a very mismanaged company that has asked for the same or a new form every time she’s called, which has been multiple attempts.
- Next year we’d like to hold the general PTSA meeting every other month, but still hold the executive PTSA board meeting monthly.
- In the future, if a club is given money by the PTSA, we’d like them to report back on how it went. (i.e.: How did Avid’s movie night go?)
5. Vice President's Report: Jennifer Flohr -
The Brick Sales are on hold as we can’t sell them until we have district approval.
-She and Joe Green met with the Bingo Hall on Arden and WAtt. They will give us a weekly time
slot on Saturday mornings, but we need 8-10 volunteers to commit to it for a year.
● Discussion on this decided that we can NOT get 8-10 committed volunteers.
6. Treasurer's Report: Becka Stephensen
- Becka has shared the current Google document of all things “All Night Grad Night” (ANGN) related. Shirts & sizes, yard signs, etc. can all be found there.
- If ANGN need cash for the Cash Cube, she needs a list of bill denominations and quantity to get the funds from the bank in time.
- We need funds for the Senior Breakfast to come in quickly.
- Discussion on whether or not the invitations have been sent out and if all students are required to RSVP. Meghan Wilson will follow up on that.
- Becka will be filing taxes in 60 days. She needs a list of all people who donated cash or gift cards to any committee or event, as well as a list of what was donated.
–4 checks were given to Barbara Lezon for the 4 scholarship winners with PTSA funding.
– If we have anything of value in our PTSA closet, it has to be reported. We concluded that the coffee maker is the only thing of value and will not be reported.
– Becka had to file a report stating that we didn’t pay out workers comp to anyone.
– Do we want her to refile for “Raffle Ticket” sales for next year? Yes.
–We have to pay $5 per member to the PTA. We should increase our rates and get rid of the “household” option and just have one rate. We propose to charge $10 per staff member, and $40 for regular PTSA members.
7. Committee Reports:
a. Holly Fales: (absent) They have decorated for Staff Appreciation Week with an “Around the World” theme. They will continue on next year as the Hospitality/Staff Appreciation.
