Dear LMEC Families,
Congrats! We have successfully completed the first month of school. Now that students have had time to settle in to in-person school again we are excited that we are starting up our club programs. A huge shout out to Coach Moore and the more than 40 students he has signed up for his after school sports club. It was great seeing them in action Friday on our field.
We are looking to roll out several additional lunch and after school club sign ups this week, as well as some tutoring supports. Please look for details later this week.
A reminder that the first progress report will be here before we know it and if you haven't done so already I strongly encourage you to check your child's grades in PowerSchool and communicate with yoru child's teachers on a regular basis. A great way to keep track of what your child is doing is to join their Google Classroom.
Sincerely,
Melanie Kray
Families we are looking for volunteers to join our first ever LMEC PTA. Please CLICK HERE to complete our short interest form. We are looking to hold our first PTA meeting this month! More information will be out this week.
We are looking for an additional parent or community member to join our SSC. The SSC is a decision-making committee that oversees the SPSA (School Plan for Student Achievement). The SPSA is the plan that identifies academic goals and drives the school’s instructional program. It is also responsible for monitoring budets and expendituers for strategies and actions in the SPSA.
If you are interested please email our Instructional Coordinator, Ms. Erica Herrera no later than Wednesday 10/6 at eherrera@sandi.net. If multiple parents or community members are interested elections will be held.
We have great news! All the uniform orders are finally in and we have been distributing them. All uniforms should be distributed by the end of this week. Thank you for your patience with this.
Now that all the uniforms are in, students need to be sure that they are arriving to school in the correct dress code attire. Students may wear their black LMEC polo shirts or solid black t-shirts. Outwear (jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies) need to be black, white, grey, or navy blue in color. Students not following the LMEC dress code will be asked to change or provided with a loaner shirt. Please help us by checking to make sure your child is in appropriate attire for school.
Some of you may have heard of a recent "devious licks challenge" on the social media app TikTok where individuals are encouraging others to steal or damage school property. Now there are additional monthly challenges that encourage students to "slap a teacher" or touch a classmate inappropriately. Fortunately we have not had any incidents at LMEC related to these new monthly challenges but we wanted to be proactive and reach out to families to make them aware that these challenges are out there.
We ask that you please speak with your child and remind them that this "challenge" is criminal behavior, not an innocent prank. This behavior is grounds for suspension, expulsion, and criminal charges.
We appreciate your support to keep our campus safe by talking to your child about the adverse effects of peer pressure sometimes found on social media platforms. The entire LMEC Team thanks you in advance for your support on this.
Parents we need your help. Several weeks ago your child should have brought home a manila envelope with directions on how to submit your LCFF household form in PowerSchool, the directions include your Access ID and Password.
Our school needs this information to help ensure we receive all the state funding to which our students are entitled. We use this funding to provide additional academic supports in the classroom. Below is some additional information to help you complete the process.

If you haven't done so already please complete your LCFF Household form in PowerSchool as soon as possible. If you have any trouble submitting the form.
