This week LMEC hosts it's second spirit week and it's first school dance of the year! We hope all of our secondary students will participate in our Fall into Fun Red Ribbon Week Spirit Week.
Monday: Team Up Against Drugs - wear your favorite Sports Team Hat or Jersey
Tuesday: Partner Up Against Drugs - wear matching clothes with 1 or more of your friends
Wednesday: Scare Away Drugs - wear red to school and come to the Middle School dance in your Halloween Costume
Thursday: Being Drug Free is the Key to your Dreams - wear pajamas to school
Friday: My Drug-Free Future is Bright - wear orange and black colors to school

Families we are looking for volunteers to join our first ever LMEC PTA. Please CLICK HERE to complete our short interest form. We are looking to hold our first PTA meeting this month! More information will be out this week.
Based on feedback from families, we are changing our automated message. Starting Monday you will hear a new automated message when you call the LMEC main office line. Please listen to the whole message as our recording has recently changed. Please press 1 for the message in Spanish. Please leave us a voice message and we will return your call within 24 hours.
For general questions when calling the site please press 0 when listening to the automated message.
If you are picking up a student for an appointment, especially during lunchtime, please call the office an hour before to make sure your student is ready. You can also send a note with your student the morning of so they know to expect you.
On Wednesday, October 27th from 3:00-5:00 PM LMEC's ASB will host our first dance of the school year. CLICK HERE to view the dance flyer. Students must also meet certain academic and citizenship criteria in order to be eligible to buy a ticket to the dance including a (1) 2.0 GPA and (2) no "U" citizenship grades.
Students may buy pre-sale tickets during lunch Monday-Wednesday this week for $2 or at the door for $3.
Students may wear a Halloween costume to the dance but must adhere to the following rules regarding costumes at the dance:
Students must follow all COVID safety guidelines and wear a face mask over their nose and mouth.
No revealing costumes; All dress guidelines still apply (no revealing tops or short shirts permitted)
No costumes that may offend others due to race, culture, gender, religion, or sexual orientation
No toy weapons or objects/elements that represent violence
No costume masks that cover the face
No gang, drug, or alcohol references
If ANY costume is deemed inappropriate by a member of the administrative team, the student will be required to change. If alternate clothing is not available, the student will be asked to call a parent/guardian for assistance. If you are unsure if your costume is school appropriate please contact one of the administrators.
On Thursday, Nov. 4th from 4:30-6:00 PM we will host a drive-thru recognition activity for our students who earned Straight A's or a 3.0 GPA or higher on the first progress report - more details will be sent to the families of those specific students. We will be recognizing more than 200 students! Great work Eagles.
On Monday,October 25th @6:00 PM, we will be hosting an information fair to provide information about the programs the new LMEC High School will be offering and to seek input from the community about the instructional and athletic programs they are interested in seeing at the LMEC High School.

Parents please remind your children that students must have their cell phones turned off and in their backpacks during school hours. Per district policy, middle school students are not permitted to use cell phones during school hours.
LMEC is starting an after school science club in collaboration with UC San Diego CREATE. Our kick off event will be on Wednesday, October 27th. CLICK HERE for more details. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn about science from real scientists.
Parents we need your help. Several weeks ago your child should have brought home a manila envelope with directions on how to submit your LCFF household form in PowerSchool, the directions include your Access ID and Password.
Our school needs this information to help ensure we receive all the state funding to which our students are entitled. We use this funding to provide additional academic supports in the classroom. Below is some additional information to help you complete the process.
