"As New York state went into quarantine, my family shifted to online grocery ordering. While on the Walmart Grocery website, I noticed the word “everyday" appeared on various images of product packaging, such as paper plates, pantyhose, and stuffing mix. “Everyday” resonated with me; it summed up the emotional and repetitive nature of my daily life during quarantine. I began drawing the word “everyday” from these product graphics. Using the same scale and placement as the displayed image, I omitted all other information. The repetitive process of surrounding the word “everyday” with dense graphite marks offered a sense of purpose, reflection, and distraction from the uncertainty of daily living."
