"These pieces come from a body of work begun during the coronavirus pandemic. With daily life and social interaction halted, I retreated into the landscape surrounding my home in Catskill and unknowingly began a series of dark meditations on the emotional and physical trauma related to human experience, and the earth itself. The paintings are adorned with frames I carve out of lumber and char with a torch."

Ever Baldwin is a painter in Catskill NY. His work has been included in solo and group exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Boston, Toronto, and Berlin. He has attended residency programs at The Ragdale Foundation, The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, and in 2014 received a cultural grant from The City of Chicago to attend The Atlantic Center for the Arts, where he studied with the painter Dana Schutz. Ever has worked with children, teens, and adults as a teaching artist for over ten years, and an artists’ book featuring his series of food paintings was published by Soberscove Press in Chicago in 2017. Ever holds a BFA in painting from The Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from The School of The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
