"This piece investigates the conditions of absence and presence within interpersonal and self-reflexive relationships. It suggests the viewer examine their own relationships with others and with themselves, as well as how a practice of empathetic communication is required for sensitive connectivity. The sculpture’s recognizable form symbolizes the tangible measurement of time, care, and attention that traditionally function as objects of rest and comfort within a home. I created this piece to prompt others towards mutual compassion and understanding as everyone is exposed to the danger of COVID-19."
