At the first parents meeting of the year, the parents in each class elect four class contact parents. The contact parents play an important role in the cooperation between the class teacher, the parents and the school. Of the four class contact parents, one is also elected to represent the class in the school’s Parents Council (Council Parent) and another is elected as a deputy (Deputy Council Parent).
The purpose of the Parents Councils at the European School Copenhagen is to support a mutual and broad sharing of information and open dialogue between the parents and the school.
There are two Parents Councils at the school - one for Primary and one for Lower Secondary. You can read more about the purpose of the Parents Council in the Parents Council Rules of Procedure.
Format of the Parents Council meetings
Each Parents Council meets 3 times a year. In order to involve the parents more in the planning and presiding of the PC meetings and ensure that the agenda is relevant to most parents, each of the Parents Councils have two PC Coordinators to:
ensure consistency in content and holding of the meetings throughout the year.
meet with management to plan the meetings and finalise the agenda two weeks before each meeting.
collect and prioritise issues from parents and bring them to the meeting with the management.
facilitate the meetings, act as moderators and ensure a minute-taker is chosen among the parents.
Role of the Council Parents
For information about the role of the Council Parents, please see the Parents Council Rules of Procedure.
In Primary, Parent-Teacher conferences are held twice a year with the class teacher, usually before Christmas and around Easter. These meetings are an opportunity for parents to receive feedback and discuss their child's progress with the teacher. Appointment times are made available by teachers and can be booked by parents on Aula.
In Secondary, Parent-Teacher-Student conferences are held in January/February. If there are concerns about the well-being or academic progress of a student, another meeting (behovssamtale) may be arranged in the Autumn and/or Spring.
There are bike and scooter racks by the school’s three entrances - see Bicycles.
There are several car parks in Carlsberg Byen. The closest (Franciska Clausens Plads) is located directly below the school and is accessed from Bohrsgade. It is operated by Apcoa, who charge a fee (further details can be found on the signs in the carpark).
You can also park in the public streets nearby (blue and yellow parking zones).
Every year we usually organise a Pedagogical/Teacher Training Day for in-service training. Parents are notified in advance and the date is penciled in on the Aula calendar.
See Library.
Information to come.
At the European School Copenhagen, we sometimes use pictures or videos as part of the teaching and to document school life and special events at the school.
The school may, without your consent, post pictures and videos of your child on Aula. Likewise, the school may publish situational photos/video of your child on other platforms. In situational photos/video, it is the activity rather than the people who are the purpose of the photo/video, e.g. young people participating in a sports day or a joint class event.
Your consent is required:
If the school would like to use portraits of your child e.g. in a brochure or on a poster. Portraits are images where the purpose is to show one or more specific people, e.g. a class picture
If the school would like to post a portrait of your child on the school's website
If the school would like to post a portrait of your child on social media such as Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram
Physical Education (PE) is studied by all students in Primary and Secondary.
In Secondary 1-5, Physical Education is taught to mixed language groups in one of the three L2 (DE, EN, FR) or in the language of the host country.
The school encourages play dates between the students after school. In order to ensure that everyone experiences play dates and don't always play with the same children, the Primary class teachers can suggest play groups to parents.
Info to come.

Parent meetings with the parents and class teachers in the class are held twice a year and are an opportunity to discuss social, academic and pedagogical matters of relevance to the students in the class.
