Most new students and parents start with us at the beginning of the school year in August and will receive a welcome pack in May/June with various practical information, most of which is also contained in this A-Z Guide. The parents will also receive an invitation to an introduction meeting before school start. These introduction meetings are an opportunity for the parents to meet the school's management.
Students and parents, who start with us during the year, will receive practical information via email and will be welcomed to the school by the class teacher.
The welcome packs/school start information is available on our website.
One of our parents, Melanie Haynes, who is a member of the Parents Association, has also created a guide to help new families aquaint themselves with life in Copenhagen in her blog Dejlige Days.
NemID is a common secure login on the Internet, whether you are doing your online banking, finding out information from the public authorities or engaging with one of the many businesses that use NemID. The school is not able to help obtain a NemID. New international families should contact the international citizen service at International House Copenhagen.
The school regularly sends out newsletters or news videos to the parents and students containing information about important events, actvivities and news . These are shared on the Aula notice board and can also be found in Aula documents. The After School Care produces its own newsletter, which is shared with the parents via Tabulex.
On 6 December, Nikolaus visits the children in the German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). He often brings chocolate, nuts, and mandarins. Here at the European School in Copenhagen, this tradition is celebrated by the L2 German teachers and students.
