Digital Education in S1-S4
All S1-S4 students are loaned a computer by the school to use for schoolwork, both at school and at home. A digital education strategy is currently being developed to ensure that students develop both their digital skills and their digital awareness/ethics.
Digital skills development: The students should become gradually more proficient and confident ICT/digital users in S1-S4. This learning progression will be described by the ICT coordinator, management and secondary teachers’ group in the school year 2021/22. While we wish to integrate ICT into the teaching and learning, it is also important that we maintain the importance of legible handwriting and learning without the use of computers/digital aids.
Digital awareness development: The students in S1-S4 also need to learn about digital ethics, including safe and responsible use of the Internet, social media, etc. A plan for the student’s digital awareness progression will also be developed in the school year 2021/22.
Digital Awareness and Computing Skills N-P5:
The European School Copenhagen will support students with their understanding and use of a wide range of digital tools adapted to the age group.
Students will be given instruction on digital awareness which includes understanding their online identity and using social media platforms wisely. They will also learn how to be critical and ethical users of the internet and develop an understanding of their digital footprints. Students will learn to work with a range of digital tools, software and applications.
In Primary, Digital Awareness and Computing Skills is a dimension in all subjects across the curriculum and different learning objectives are to be covered in each year level.
The school is collaborating with the Municipality and parents on students' ICT safety. If any incidents are reported, the school will notify the parents and relevant external partners: SSP-team, Police and Data Protection officer in the Municipality.
If parents experience anything concerning they will need to contact the class teacher, who will get in touch with relevant colleagues, management, and the SSP-team. Parents are advised to contact SletDet.dk, that supports children, youth and parents in handling digital violations and unpleasant experiences on the internet. SletDet.dk offers information and chat with a supervisor.

It’s essential that the class teacher is informed of big changes in the students' lives that may affect their wellbeing, e.g. serious illness or bereavement in the family or the divorce or separation of parents. This way the class teacher can ensure that the student receives the necessary support at school. It is also important that the administration is informed if the parents' contact information or custody arrangements change.
In November, the Primary school usually has an assembly to mark Diwali, where some of our students perform traditional dances and other activities associated with the festival of light, celebrated by Hindus around the world.
Discovery of the World is one of the subjects taught in Primary 1-5. The main purpose of Discovery of the World is to give pupils a frame of common references to develop an understanding of themselves and the wider world. Pupils play an active part in their learning. Parents should say goodbye to their children outside the school or in the canteen. All students, except in nursery class, are expected to be able to go to their classrooms by themselves. This drop-off policy helps ensure that students and teachers have a calm start to the day and classes start on time.
If parents wish to speak to a teacher, they can write to the teacher on Aula and arrange a suitable time to meet.
If parents would like to help their child tidy up in their wardrobe, they should do so at pick-up (please note that access may be limited during COVID-19 restrictions).
