Here are the original story boards for Premonition, which show it's longer sequence though the first couple of panels have been subject to a lot of change over time. Either due to my dislike of the angles or for a change in colour scheme which better reflected the dying in the dream. The idea was to make an animated sequence, which had collage like backgrounds with a more cartoon character, to create a sense of unease, and dreamlike world for the well dream world. Where as the waking world would seem more cartoonish and similar to the character.
Dai was designed after a medieval 14th century Monk. Meaning the clothing he was wearing was a habit, many medieval depictions for these were brown or black, in the end I decided to go with a dark grey as in the test animations, the brown just didn't seem to work against the stake. As for the eyes I was originally thinking perhaps more of a two colour thing, but the green really stood out to me, especially since part of Dai's identity was meant to be linked to Old English Paganism, one of the large figures in that appears to be the Green Man who still has some festivals to this day. Though much of the stories and information on the Green Man have been lost due to the heavy influence of Christianity in the United Kingdoms.
