Magical Boy Transformation

This trimester I contacted Jason Barkell, as I heard he had been looking for a 2D animator to help out on a potential Major production called "Oops I Got Fat". The story centers around a dramatic beauty influencer, obsessed with his subscriber count and struggling with his body image. The character has an overactive imagination, which would be represented in animated sequences, and agreed to work on those sections.

Although the project was not greenlit, Jason and I were still inspired to work on the project outside SAE, and so this trimester for ANI230, I decided to animate a section of the final animation. The scene is the character's lowest point, and involves him in a fight with a giant donut, a manifestation of his eating disorder. Once he is beaten down, he suddenly powers up, Sailor Moon style, and this transformation is what I worked on.
