Historical Coil pot

This is my historical coil pot, it is modeled after a prehistoric Egyptian pot. the goal of the project was to get more familiar with the coil technique especially when building something with more size to it. the making of this pot was similar to the coil and carve cup that i had previously finished. I started the pot out from the photo i had gotten of egyption pots. starting relatively small at the bottom and widening the pot as i went higher and higher. This time i made the coils a much more manageable size then i had with the coil and carve cup so the walls of this pot are thinner. after making the rough shape of the pot i then bisque fired the pot. as you can see above. the overal shape of the pot is noticably inspired by the prehistroic pots. after bisque firing i then glazed the pot with 3 coats of (----------) glaze and fired the pot the final time.

After firing the pot looked amazing, i really like the simplistic color choice and the shape of the pot harkening back to prehistoric egypt. you can tell the pot was not thrown on the wheel and it gives it some more character. one thing i would change if i did this project again would be to make the base thinner and let it dry out more before firing because the base of the pot cracked and its a little bit of an eyesore if youre looking into the pot. but overall i am very proud of how this peice came out.
