Artist inspired project

This is my artist inspired ceramic piece. it is a volcano, but the glazing is inspired by the artist Lauren Mabry, some of her work can be seen above along with a link to more of her work I picked her work to base my project on because her clay shapes are simple but the glazing is much more intricate, and doing something more interesting with glazes has intrigued me and i thought this was the perfect time. I made this volcano first by cutting a peice of paper that folded into the shape i needed and then cut it so i could use the paper as a template for my slab. i then folded the slab into the cone i needed for my piece. and let it dry for a couple of days, once the clay was dry i painted on underglazes, this is where my inspiration from Lauren came into play, i dripped many colors of underglases instead of painting them like i normally would, i also spattered some of the glaze in places where the volcano looked bare. i Then bisque fired the cone. After bisque firing it came out looking great, so i decided not to add any other glazes on top of the underglazes besides clear. Once the 3 layers of clear glazes went onto the cone it went in for final firing. I really like how it looks now. it is not to simple but also not to crazy to distract you from its sort of simplicity. you can definitely tell that this was an inspired piece. because it is unlike any work i have done before. if i could change something about this peice it would probably be taking my name off and replacing it with some other text that would be more meaningful. now that its finished i think the name is an eyesore and detracts from the astetic i was going for with the piece.
