The Last ONES

Concentrations

This is Ruben Doblas Gundersen, a half spanish and norway youtuber that I have been following for almost 6 years.

Every year, for halloween he gets this incredible creepy makeup that makes him look like he was a skeleton. I have always likes creepy drawings, so I decided I wanted to do a fanart of him.

I first did my sketches in tracing paper, 'cause that way I just draw what I want and avoid unnecessary lines. It takes more time, but the quality is better. After passing everything with pencils, I started to mark all the lines with pigment liners and with black sharpie painted all the black spots of the drawing.

For coloring I started with the background, since it was the hardest and more detailed part. For this I used different types of color pencils with very specific colors. It supposes that at the back of Ruben, there's a graffiti and a old wall.

Doing the leaves from the shirt was more detailed too, with color markers I paint them all a color base and then with thin color markers of darker greens I worked on the details of the leave. This made them look more realistic and some texture. I used the same process with the hair and the neck.

My fanart is basically centered, since the person is located at the center and I applied different ways to create volume and values, in this case I used crossed lines and black to dark specific places, since the light is coming from two spots at the top.

I actually had planned to do this fanart black and white, and maybe just paint some objects like the leaves for example, but the I thought it would look much better colored.

For this art work there's not really a story behind it. Maybe when I was younger I always wanted to wear cool and creepy makeup for halloween, but my parents thought that was something stupid to do, and I guess that's why I always have been attracted to it. Maybe that's why I made the shirts with pod leaves, like the drawing was forbidden, censored.

My drawing is done, but if i could add something, that would be more shadows and texture on the face. It looks a little bit plane in some parts, like the cheeks for example.

The subject of this sculpture is "LOVE YOURSELF".

Just like everybody, there's something about me that I don't like and I really wish I could change. But when you start growing, you realize that you are perfect in your own way and that the people that knows you, really appreciates that.

So I decided to do a messy wire man hugging a crumbled box with some words on it, like "defects", "complex" and a very big "ME" written on one of the sides. Here's the first sketch of it. -------------------------->

The materials that I used for this sculpture were wire for the base, some wooden sticks for the arms and legs and cardboard to make a stands for it.

I thinks I used specific focus on the man and the box, since the wire tree on the left and the small plants at the background are not the main objective. I had planned to use just wire and a wooden stick to make the sculpture stand but then to make it look integrated I added some wooden sticks on the legs and arms.

The only thing that might make my sculpture stronger is to make a pattern at the back since the floor has one and makes the sculpture more interesting.
