Violet Wong

Artist Statement:

My artwork represents my love for architecture, portraits and color. I am interested in surrealism; combining buildings and portraits in order to express feelings of denial and an unwillingness to face reality. I often like to incorporate opposite colors - purples and yellow-orange; warm versus cool- putting the two together, which is a fun challenge. I'm inspired by city architecture and walking down the streets with friends at night when it’s still full of lights and traffic- like in my hometown, Xi’an, China. 4 years ago, I spent my last night in China with my friends- a lot of my art expresses missing my friends, night lights, and the big city.
