Artist Statement:

What is the connection between life and death?

I’m interested in the representation of both life and death, visually, because the human experience requires each of these transitions. You cannot have one without the other. I use skulls as a representation and symbol of death, because it represents the final cycle of life. I also use the symbol of the seedling because it is a very strong symbol of life: it shows new, vast potential and liveliness.

I am drawn to circular canvases because in society so many things are in boxes. Windows, houses, televisions, computers etc.. pretty much everywhere is rectangle/box dominant. Circles are infinite, never ending edges- expansive and fluid like life.
