Artist Statement:

My artwork explores memories of my sister and aims to represent her in a surrealist style. By manipulating her image and drawing her as two figures (within the same space), my goal was to show the contrast (or lack thereof) between the reality of the memory and how I remember it. The strongest details of each memory (or each artwork) are seen in the frame/texture details as well as in the background- which is in context to the setting/environment of where the memory was made. I wanted to experiment utilizing the negative space in order to both to create mystery and context. My main focus with each work was to illustrate not only the contrast between my memories and reality, but the equal weight that they have.
