Artist Statement:

Throughout my journey in AP portfolio I have had one question in mind: how does water as a medium warp objects in order to make it appear like an alternative universe? Water as a medium can shape our world, sometimes rendering it unrecognizable to the human eye. I experimented with several different mediums; pen, acrylic, charcoal, sometimes using the water itself in watercolor pieces, in order to obtain just how diverse water can make things look. It's almost as if we aren't even in our own world . I started off with animals, experimenting with how these beloved animals are shaped under the influence of water. Then I moved into human figures in order to make the alternate world more relatable to the human mind. I predominantly used colored pencil in all of my selected works. This is because of the irony of using a highly controlled medium, where water cannot be harnessed as easily as wax.
