Artist Statement:

My artwork explores the nature of inspiration as it directly relates to the art we create. I dream of one day publishing coloring books. Because coloring books originally inspired me to pursue art, I continue to enjoy creating artworks which will be further manipulated by someone else’s imagination. I wish to be part of another person’s journey with art.

The single biggest influence in my art is my father. When I was very young, the first thing I learned to draw was clouds, because he taught me. Because of his influence, I was obsessed with them: drawing clouds in sketchbooks and on the back of my math homework. He inspired me to keep practicing and learning art, and after he passed, I kept drawing clouds as a way of thanking him for all that he’s done for me.

Nature and fantasy are represented in my work. Without being overly complex, my goal is to inspire others to make art. I would like for the pieces in my AP portfolio to be part of a larger collection that I plan on releasing as a coloring book.

I also have a shop on the website Redbubble where I got a head-start in my entrepreneurial ventures by selling stickers, t-shirts, and more using my own hand-drawn designs! You can find me at @frenchtoastt on Redbubble or click the link to be taken to my page!
