Artist Statement:

As a photographer, I often wonder: in what ways can light be manipulated? My photos primarily explore the effects of light and color. I often experiment with a polarized light by using techniques like polarizing filters, reflected light from laptop screens (which have a polarizer on them), and translucent objects. For a few of my works (like the one above), I made my own light stick using a scrap piece of wood, LED strip lights, a portable charger, and duct tape. I then took the light stick to a park at night and waved it around. I experimented with many different movements and exposure times during the shoot. I am interested in bright lines of color and distortion in my work.
