Jiyoun Choo

Artist Statement:

I am interested in the theme of human interaction with nature. My artwork focuses on using various textures to create an eye-straining feeling that encourages the viewer to step closer and analyze the smaller details of the piece. In my work, I aim to emulate the flourishing and “boundary-less” characteristic of nature. As in the environment, the fluid nature of watercolor paint helped me to emulate the fluidity of water and the many different tones it reflects. Through my experimentation with mixed-media (such as graphite, pen, acrylic paint, metal leaf, and yupo paper), I was able to find out that I enjoy being creative and using a variety materials in my artwork.
