All RIS school rules apply to life in Residence. We would like to underscore the following:
Weapons, even toys, are strictly forbidden on campus. This includes small pocket knives.
Staff and students are prohibited from possessing, consuming, or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
RIS strictly prohibits smoking and smoking-related items.
Any clothing or other items with inappropriate words or images are not allowed
No horseplay or touching other students
No romantic relationships or overt displays of affection between students is allowed (displays of affection also apply to any guests)
Bullying or intimidating students will be referred to the administration for follow-up
Should a student fail to meet the above expectations, appropriate consequences will be enforced by the Residence staff or RIS staff to ensure consistency. For more details, please see the RIS Student Handbook.
Below are examples of student behaviors categorized into three tiers. The higher the tier the more serious the infraction and the more strict the disciplinary action.
Theft
Entering hallways or rooms of the opposite gender
Inappropriate sexual behavior
Possession, distribution, or use of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs
Violence or injury to another person
Damage to property
Leaving campus without permission or failing to return on time
Consistently refusing to follow expectations or directions of staff members
