make sure the lights are turned off
turn off the air conditioner
keep air flowing by opening both the glass sliding doors and the bathroom window
unplug all appliances (e.g., hair dryers/straighteners)
turn off power cords
pick up items from the floor so the cleaners can do their work
Do not put anything on the room walls before checking with the residence staff. The only adhesive permitted is “sticky tack," which can be removed without the paint.
Food is discouraged in student rooms. Food in a student room should be kept in the refrigerator to avoid attracting insects.
Cutlery and dishes must not be taken from the kitchen or allowed in student rooms. Refrigerators must be kept organized/clean and must be emptied before each long holiday.
Wall phones are to be kept ON at all times. These are to be used for calling other rooms in the residence only. Dial five plus the room number to call a different room. Phones must be kept in working order so a staff member can call if necessary. Please report any phone that is not working to the staff right away.
Shoes should be placed on the racks provided.
No electrical items, such as kettles, are allowed in the rooms.
Students must remember to clean up after themselves. Common areas must be kept free of clutter, including backpacks. Students are prohibited from eating in the Common Room unless they sit at a table.
INVITING GUESTS
All guests of boarding students must wait in the entry area. The guest should call the student he or she is visiting to sign them in with a residence staff member. All visitors are to remain in approved common areas on the residence's first floor unless approval is given from a residence staff member. Family members must check in with a staff member before going to a student’s room.
Students must clean up after themselves and leave all common areas clean and neat, including areas used by their guests.
