Unplanned leaves that are granted due to an illness.
Eligibility: All regular employees are entitled to twelve days paid vacation leave per annum which is credited (1 day) every 1st of the month.
On Probation: Probationary employees hired between the 1st and 15th of the month will earn one sick leave credit on the 1st day of the following month, while those who were hired between the 16th and 31st of the month will earn .5 sick leave credit on the 1st day of the following month. However, sick leave balance cannot be used during probation period.
Unused Sick Leave: Unused sick leave balance by the end of the year will be converted to cash at the end of the 1st quarter of the following year, and such leaves will be computed based on the daily rate when the leave balance was earned.
Only 10 sick leave balance are non-taxable upon conversion, in excess of 10 sick leave balance will be subject to tax.
Upon Termination: Upon resignation or separation of the employee, unused leave credits shall be converted to cash depending on the daily rate of the employee based on when the credit was earned and shall be included in the final pay.
How to File
For sick leave of three or more consecutive days, a Fit-to-Work certificate must be provided by the employee within 48 hours from the time the employee returned to work, otherwise, the employee will not be approved to return unless certificate has been provided and verified by the company nurse or Doctor.
1. Login to Acquire myPay
2. Click the leave filing icon
3. Click on ‘New’ which will open the leave filing pop-up window
4. Complete the following fields:
a. Date
b. Leave Type: Sick Leave
c. Quantity: Whole day, 1st half, 2nd half
5. Click Save
