Bereavement leave gives the employee time to grieve for the death of an immediate family member as well as take care of matters related to the bereavement.
Immediate Family – Defined under any of the circumstances of an employee’s civil status as enumerated below:
For Single employees – biological and/or legally adopted parents, full and/or half-blood siblings, legitimate and/or illegitimate children (including legally adopted children) and grandparents.
For Married employees – legal spouse, legitimate and/or illegitimate children (including legally adopted children), biological and/or legally adopted parents, full and/or half-blood siblings, grandparents and parent in law.
The Employee may utilize their Bereavement Leaves within 40 days upon death of the family member and may be used on separate days within the 40 day period. Remaining leave credits will be forfeited once the 40-day period is over.
Required Documents
▪ Death Certificate of the deceased member
▪ Birth Certificate of the employee
▪ Birth Certificate of his/her parent, related to the deceased.
▪ Birth Certificate of Paternal or Maternal Grandparent related to the deceased
▪ Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
▪ Birth Certificate of Spouse (if applicable)
▪ Birth Certificate of Sibling (if applicable)
Acquire C&B Team may request additional requirements to satisfactorily prove the relationship of the employee to the deceased family member.
Eligibility: Regular employees are eligible to five (5) days bereavement leave per year to handle matters related to death and grieving.
How to File:
The employee must present a proof of the death of the immediate family member to their manager for checking and approval within a reasonable time or within five working days upon return to work. If the employee was not able to provide the required documents within the allotted timeframe, a corrective action may be proceeded against the employee or that the time-off may be deducted from their vacation leave credits, if applicable, and if the circumstances so require.
Once approved by the manager, send an email to Ring HR MNL together with the required documents and wait for further instruction from the Total Rewards team.
