English 2 Honors students will study a range of literary and informative texts based on four academic units which include: 

Unit 1 - Destiny: Exploring Opportunities in the Quest of the Future

Unit 2 - Taking a Stand: Social Responsibility in Times of Crisis

Unit 3 - Dystopia and Utopian Societies

Unit 4 - The Human Connection and the Struggle for Individuality

Within these units, students will build their writing skills and fluency in daily class activities including Writer's Notebook, timed writes, and Quill. Students will also be expected to participate in rigorous peer discussions of our essential questions daily. Each unit will conclude with a culminating test or exam and a formal written assignment. By the end of this course, students will produce literary analysis, argumentative and rhetorical writing, as well as informative writing.

Note: In order to prepare students for the rigor of college-level English courses, reading and activities will be at an accelerated pace. Students will be expected to review course materials and complete some reading outside of class.
