2021-22 Professional Learning Strands

During the three District Professional Learning Days, certified employees will engage in targeted professional learning opportunities- PLC Strands (including the OEC PD on October 18th) or Choice Strands. PLC Strands will be identified for specific groups and are priority for those employees. Employees not identified to participate in PLC Strands will select one Professional Learning Choice Strand that best meets their needs. All strands will be divided into a three-part series that will be presented on October 18, 2021 (8:00 am - 10:00 am OR 10:15 am - 12:15 pm); January 3, 2022 (8:00 am - 10:00 am OR 10:15 am - 12:15 pm); and March 11, 2022 (1:00 pm - 2:00 pm OR 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm). Employees should identify and register for all three parts of ONE strand that applies to their role or best meets their needs. The October and January sessions will be conducted face-to-face; the March sessions will be virtual. The time on the Professional Learning Days outside of participation in the strands should be spent planning for the upcoming instructional quarter.

Strand Registration will open Friday, October 1st.

Dual Modalities Support

What is "Dual-Modality Instruction"?

During the 2021-22 school year, Rock Hill Schools is committed to ensuring all students have full access to their grade-level standards and related content. The district, schools, and teachers and staff must continue to work diligently to provide students one full semester or year of instruction in each class whether the student is able to engage in face-to-face instruction in the school buildings or must learn remotely while at home due to quarantine or isolation. Students who must be quarantined or isolated due to COVID must have the support and access they need to keep learning and stay on pace with their classes while at home. This means teachers should be prepared to deliver instruction to students simultaneously in-person and remotely. The South Carolina Legislature calls this practice “dual-modality instruction.”
