Social Studies

Casual Conversations in Social Studies are coming back! Join members of the SS team virtually on the second Tuesday of the month for standards-based casual conversations with Social Studies colleagues from around the state to help with instruction. Casual Conversations require participants to use this link to register with their school email address. Participants may come to part or all of the conversations.

World Languages

SCDE World Languages Professional Development Opportunities

 If your school or district is seeking Professional Development Opportunities in World Languages, please complete the interest survey to request PD. The PD will be tailored to each school or district after an intake conversation with the Education Associate of World Languages.

The interest survey is not to be filled out by individual teachers requesting PD but by a school or district designee who is acting on behalf of the school or district.

 Please submit requests at least 4 weeks in advance of the anticipated delivery date.


Dual Language Immersion Webinar Series

 SCDE is hosting the first Dual Language Immersion Webinar Series, All Things Immersion. This series provides teachers and administrators involved in an immersion program with a space to explore and engage in best practices specific to the immersion classroom. Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation for Renewal Credit.  

The series will run from February 1st to May 2nd, 2024 (4:00-5:00pm).

State Department Professional Learning Opportunities

Assessment Committee Application

Educators interested in assessment committee work for SC READY or EOCEP are encouraged to complete the Application for Assessment Committees. Educators may apply for multiple content areas if applicable to their current role. The assessment application remains active for the duration of the current school year. As opportunities become available, applicants will be contacted by a member of the Test Development Team.

Spring regional professional learning opportunities for physical education teachers are being finalized. These free opportunities are open to any teacher in any district. Profile of the SC Graduate Competency Implementation Workshop
Click here to register for the in person event on February 8, 2024. You will receive an email about 3 weeks prior to the event. There are limited seats available. Please register by Friday, January 26th. As part of our February session we will be asking for volunteers to facilitate a Competency Chat. The purpose of a Competency Chat is to offer a space for passion and idea sharing around competency implementation.
