This Week at Dutchman Creek!
Week of 8-28-2023
My wife and I enjoyed watching our Gators compete this weekend!
From the Desk of Principal Moton
Dear parents, students, and school community:
Just...WOW! What an amazing opening week of school! I could not ask for more from my staff, my students, and the amazing parents and caretakers of our school community! I can already tell that we are all COMMITTED to make this school year the best ever!
Please make plans to attend as many of our after-school events as possible, beginning with volleyball as they open our fall sports season and our Open House, which we affectionately call our "Meet and Greet (and Eat) at The Creek!" You will get a chance to tour the school, drop in to converse with the teachers and staff, and we will even have several food truck vendors on-site for you to enjoy dinner or a snack!
As the year progresses, it is important that we remain open and available to each other; entering all conversations and discussions with the spirit of cooperation and common respect for one another. As your principal, I will model the flexibility and humility that it takes to best serve our students. And that's a GNP promise!
Let's all have another amazing week at The Creek! GOOOOOOOOOOO GATORS!
Yours in service,
Principal Clayton B. Moton
Gator Nation Celebrations!
Let's take a moment to recognize and celebrate our Gator Nation students, staff, and community members!
Opening Day Pep Rally!
Great energy on Opening Day! Staff members representing each grade level competed in a Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament to determine which grade level won a Dress Down Day! It came down to Mr. Robinson, who made it to the finals to guarantee that 8th grade would dress down because the other finalist was Mrs. Silva, who represented the entire student body! Needless to say, the 6th and 7th graders cheered wildly for Mrs. Silva! 😄
Shout to Gator Nation Parents!
That 8:15 am smile when the car line is CLEAR and all students are inside ready to learn!
The safe and timely arrival each morning and dismissal each afternoon of car riders usually takes about a week to stabilize. However, within THREE days, you stepped up and made sure our kids were on time to school and picked up on time! Your efforts are much appreciated!
Evidence of Engagement is Everywhere!
Gators enjoyed TechArts and Crafts!
A few Dutchman Creek Middle School students, in collaboration with Duke University and BeSocial Charlotte, attended a TechArts + Craft workshop on Saturday, August 26th, 2023. The session created awareness in STEM. The girls certainly had a great time engaging in artwork that created music!

Counselors' Corner
Dear Students and Families,
We hope this message finds you well and excited for the new school year at Dutchman Creek! As the school counselors, we want to extend a warm welcome to both our returning students and those joining us for the first time. We are thrilled to have you back on campus and are committed to making this a successful and fulfilling year for everyone.
**A Fresh Start:**
The beginning of a new school year offers a wonderful opportunity for a fresh start. Whether you're embarking on a new grade level or returning to familiar faces, this is the time to set your intentions and embrace new challenges with enthusiasm.
**Our Role as Your School Counselors:**
We are here to support you throughout your academic journey, providing guidance, a listening ear, and resources to help you navigate any challenges that may arise. From academic concerns to personal growth, our door is always open to offer assistance, encouragement, and a safe space to talk.
**Building Connections:**
One of the most important aspects of our school community is the connections we build with one another. We encourage each of you to reach out, make new friends, and strengthen existing relationships. Remember that we're all in this together, and together we can create a positive and supportive environment.
**Stay Informed:**
Stay connected with school news, events, and important updates through our school website, social media channels, and regular newsletters. Communication is key to ensuring that you have the information you need to succeed.
**Reach Out:**
If you ever need someone to talk to, whether about academic concerns, personal matters, or anything in between, know that we are here for you. Feel free to schedule an appointment with us, or simply stop by our office.
Let's work together to make this school year memorable, enriching, and successful. We look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces around campus and am excited to be a part of your journey at Dutchman Creek.
Wishing you a fantastic start to the school year!
