#GoGators💚🖤🐊
Dear parents, students, and school community:
Thank you for a great week at The Creek last week! We closed out April and began May the right way!
Across the nation, communities everywhere will celebrate its dedicated educators for "Teacher Appreciation Week". At Dutchman Creek, we have some of the best taking care of our students everyday. I will put my staff up against any in the nation and I'm sure many of you feel the same. I encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher to express your appreciation to them in whatever way feels right to you. An email, phone call, a card, or perhaps a gift or treat. There is no right or wrong way to say "Thank you!", so join me this week and show some love to our amazing teachers!
Not to be left out, National School Nurse's Day is Wednesday, May 8! As a parent myself, knowing that there is a competent and caring professional there for students if there's a small boo-boo or a significant emergency is reassuring and our very own Nurse Van Gelder, or Nurse V for short, is one of a kind! Be sure to show Nurse V some love on her dedicated day on Wednesday!
I hope you enjoy this week's newsletter and make plans to support us this week! Everyday is important so be sure to make each day count! Stay safe and well and let's have a great week at The Creek! GOOOOOOOOOOO GATORS!
Yours in service,
Principal Clayton B. Moton
Let's take a moment to recognize and celebrate our Gator Nation students, staff, and community members!
Shout out to the faculty that has the most passion, grit, grace, perseverance, and steadfastness than any staff around! Their commitment to this calling does not go unnoticed as they are the glue that holds our school community together. It is with great pride that we work amongst the best and we are excited about all that we will achieve working along side them. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to the Gator Nation teachers!
With Great Love and Admiration,
DCMS Leadership/Instruction Team

Despite the uncomfortable conditions (the AC unit went out right before the concert began 😓), the Swampland Band put on a show to remember in front of a capacity crowd at The Creek! An impressive display of grit and fortitude! Great job, Gators😉👍!
Mrs. Moore's 7th grade art students prepare to work on their self-portraits!
Ms. Janicke's class use their text dependent analysis skills to help solve the mystery of what happened to Bob the Gator!
Whether it is volunteering to help with after school clubs and competition or cheering wildly in the stands as fans, the faculty and staff understand the importance of supporting our students in and outside of the classroom! We are unapologetically PROUD to be Dutchman Creek Gators! Gooooooo Gators!!!
Parental Reminders for State Testing
Make sure your child gets a good night of sleep before each testing day. *Strive to make mornings as relaxed as possible before arrival.
Have your child on time for school each day of testing. If your child is late for school on a testing day and the test has already started, they will not be able to test that day.
Please avoid making doctor appointments, dentist appointments, etc. during testing days.
Encourage attendance for ALL testing days, to avoid as little make-ups as possible. *Express confidence in your child and encourage them to do their best on these tests!
Please note that during testing sessions, there are very strict rules about students possessing any type of electronic device(s).
The following is an excerpt written about this in state testing policy information: “…students may not be in possession of any electronic device that can be used for communicating, recording, timing, creating images, or storing images. These devices include, but are not limited to, cell phones, media players, electronic readers, smart watches…” Any electronic device brought by a student will be collected before testing and given back after testing is finished.
To adhere to state testing maintenance and security, we will observe the same protocols as years past by keeping all student devices at school during testing season. Beginning Monday, May 6, all student devices will remain at school. State testing begins on Tuesday, May 7.
The 8th Grade Awards Celebration time has been changed to 10:00 a.m. to ensure 8th grade parents are able to attend the 5th grade graduation at our feeder elementary schools.
Last Day for Ticket Sales is Friday May 17, 2024!
Tickets for the 8th grade formal will be sold until next FRIDAY May 17, 2024. Parents please be sure that students have the permission slip and the money. Ms. Blake will receive slips and money during 8th grade lunch.
Isis has been selected as the DCMS student hero for 2024. She will be honored at the Rock Hill Schools Education Foundation Gala Thursday, May 9th. Congratulations Isis!
It's always great to see students in their Great Gator Ways T-Shirts!
Dr. McConneaughey, DoSL at Sunset Park loved her visit to the Creek. It was a great week of hosting and visiting district DoSL.
Students who have shown an interest in writing or have tapped into their creative genius will enjoy a Q&A visit for tips on great writing.
Need some advice or have a question in general? We are here to help!
Do you love to run? If you are a rising 7th or 8th grader you can run cross country! There will be an interest meeting for athletes zoned for Rock Hill High School on May 16 at 5:30 in the Rock Hill High Media Center.
Summer conditioning will begin on June 7 at Winthrop Coliseum in the softball parking lot. We meet Monday through Friday at 7:00 a.m.
