Tough times don't last, but tough people do! Although we have tons of rebuilding to do, my family, neighbors, and friends are blessed to still be "in the number"! #SouthSideStrong🙏🏾

Dear parents, students, and school community:
Thank you for your patience and compassion this past week as we spent a significant amount of time away from the building as a result of a devastating storm that destroyed several homes and businesses in our city. Although our school's geographic area was spared of the destruction, many of our staff members and family members coped with massive clean-up efforts that included property damage that led to expensive repairs and displacement, loss of vehicles, and for many, no power until this weekend. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt physically, but the mental and emotional wounds are still present. I am encouraged by the outpouring of love and support from our school community to those directly impacted. Here is a news story featuring Dutchman Creek students and families volunteering to help their city neighbors! https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/says-lot-dozens-volunteers-continue-storm-clean-up-rock-hill/LIAQI7Y5TVH7DHLEG76OEAEOKU/

Parental Reminders for State Testing
Make sure your child gets a good night of sleep before each testing day. *Strive to make mornings as relaxed as possible before arrival.
Have your child on time for school each day of testing. If your child is late for school on a testing day and the test has already started, they will not be able to test that day.
Please avoid making doctor appointments, dentist appointments, etc. during testing days.
Encourage attendance for ALL testing days, to avoid as little make-ups as possible. *Express confidence in your child and encourage them to do their best on these tests!
Please note that during testing sessions, there are very strict rules about students possessing any type of electronic device(s).
The following is an excerpt written about this in state testing policy information: “…students may not be in possession of any electronic device that can be used for communicating, recording, timing, creating images, or storing images. These devices include, but are not limited to, cell phones, media players, electronic readers, smart watches…” Any electronic device brought by a student will be collected before testing and given back after testing is finished.
The 8th Grade Awards Celebration time has been changed to 10:00 a.m. to ensure 8th grade parents are able to attend the 5th grade graduation at our feeder elementary schools.
Tickets for the 8th grade formal will be sold beginning on MONDAY April 22, 2024. Parents please be sure that students have the permission slip and the money. Ms. Blake will receive slips and money during 8th grade lunch.
