Integrating LID Students into Your Classroom Using Focused Sensory Materials

Using information from peer-reviewed, evidence-based materials, such as "Active Learning" (Dr. Lilli Nielson) and "Every Move Count" (Kirsten, Foss, Dunn, and Francke), presenters will discuss the use of focused/theme-related sensory items to better integrate LID students during classroom lessons. Presenters will discuss the correlation between using sensory items with LID students and TEKS objectives. Learners for this presentation will see examples of some of the sensory items the presenters use in their classrooms. Learners will also have the opportunity to create a sensory item for their own classroom.

Some outcomes to expect:

1. Learners will understand the use of sensory items with LID students during classroom instruction.
2. Learners will understand the correlation between the use of sensory items with LID students and TEKS objectives.
3. Learners will create sensory items for use with LID students in their classrooms.
