Candidate Roles and Expectations
The candidate/coach relationship is the heart of CTI’s Induction Program. Confidential support and guidance are provided. Candidates actively engage in focused cycles of inquiry with the implementation of the Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). CTI Induction program is designed to strengthen the candidate’s professional practice and contribute to retention in the teaching profession.

The candidates’ requirements begin with the following expectations:
Attend orientation with reflective coach.
Seek input from site administrator and reflective coach on the development of a professional growth goal.
Submit Professional Growth Goal within 30 days of attending Orientation.
The CTI Program expectation is for candidates to...
Engage in developing an ongoing, reciprocal relationship with a reflective coach.
Collaborate with a reflective coach via face-to-face and/or virtual meetings of not less than an average of one (1) hour per week from Orientation through Colloquium.
Complete an Initial and Post CSTP Self-Assessment.
Develop and regularly revisit and update an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP).
Engage in job-embedded focused cycles of inquiry every 4-5 weeks (complete 4 per year).
Create and share a year-end Digital Reflection Website reflecting on candidate's CSTP growth.
Receive targeted feedback from the reflective coach through observations (complete 3 per year).
Maintain a professional commitment to progressing through the induction program in a timely and meaningful manner.
Participate in all program surveys in order to evaluate program effectiveness.
Candidates engage in a system of support facilitated by the reflective coach through focused cycles of inquiry and just-in-time support.
Observe and reflect on classroom instruction and professional practice
Reflect on feedback from reflective coach regarding classroom instruction [three (3) observations per program year].
Seek available strategies and resources to support professional growth.
Set and modify goals outlined in the Individualized Learning Plan (ILP).
Submit evidence of reflection and growth through inquiry cycle engagement.
Candidates will communicate with CTI and agency representative regarding:
Change of teaching assignment.
Change in contact information.
Need to become inactive.
Maternity leave, illness, other.
Request to be matched with a different coach.
Need for additional CTI support or guidance.
CTI candidates are expected to demonstrate professional behaviors in alignment with the CSTP throughout all induction interactions; including, but not limited to:
Professional demeanor and responsibility.
Commitment to learning for ALL students.
Timely and professional communication practices.
Professional collaboration with reflective coach and colleagues.
Habits of meaningful self-reflection.
Adhere to the Model Code of Ethics for Educators (MCEE).
Meaningful engagement in CTI’s Induction Program processes.
If a candidate is not fulfilling the requirements and/or professional behavior expectations outlined in the roles and responsibilities, support and assistance will be offered at regular intervals throughout the induction process by program staff. If that support is declined or significant requirements are not met, the Director of Induction will conduct an investigation, and the Executive Director of Riverside County Office's School of Education will make the final determination of the impact on the candidate’s enrollment status. If CTI decides a candidate’s enrollment will be discontinued, the candidate will be notified and he/she will no longer have access to CTI Navigate.
The candidate’s induction responsibilities end with:
Ensuring all induction requirements have been met.
Attending Colloquium to share a digital reflection website and celebrate professional growth.
Accessing CTI Navigate for end-of-year procedures.
*Note: Outstanding enrollment and participation fee balances must be paid in full by the candidate or employing agency prior to being recommended for the clear credential.
