Program Eligibility
The Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) is the state of California agency authorized to issue credentials to California educators and service professionals. The Center for Teacher Innovation (CTI) is a subsidiary of the Riverside County Office of Education, which is a CTC-accredited induction program sponsor. As such, CTI is authorized to submit clear credential recommendations to CTC for teacher candidates who hold a preliminary general education or education specialist credential and complete the CTI induction program.
Who is Eligible?
Teachers identified by their employing agencies that are partnered with the CTI Induction Program and meet the following:
1. TK-12th grade teaching assignment* approved by the employing agency that includes access to instruct students on a regular basis in order to complete focused cycles of inquiry.
2. California teaching credentials eligible for induction:
Preliminary General Education or Education Specialist that has a renewal code shown in the chart below.
Executive Order Preliminary Credentials.
Variable Term Waivers and intern extension credentials may be eligible with an evaluation by the credential care team.
Note: Teachers who are in the process of receiving their preliminary credential within 3-6 months of enrollment may participate on a non-credential track with the approval of their employer’s induction representative.
*Teaching assignment: CTI program standards allow flexibility in teaching assignments eligible for induction enrollment. Candidates do not need to be the teacher of record. Assignments can be part-time, co-teaching, alternative settings, etc. Please contact the credential care team at ctisupport@rcoe.us for more information about eligible teaching assignments.
Who is Not Eligible?
1. Day-to-day substitutes are not eligible for induction per CTC policy because the assignment of working with different groups of students each day does not support induction requirements and completing cycles of inquiry.
2. Teaching assignment in a setting where the candidate will not have access to the same groups of students for at least 75% of a semester term August-December or January-June that supports completing the induction cycles of inquiry (Employing agencies or candidates can email ctisupport@rcoe.us to confirm approval of teaching assignment if needed).
3. Teaching assignment that is not within a TK-12 content authorization area.
Note: Some credentials may also require completion of CTC statutory credential requirements (English Learner Authorization, CPR, basic skills, etc) in addition to induction for a clear credential. Candidates with additional requirements will be notified by CTI Credential Care Services after completing the registration process.
