Mathematics
Mathematics Education is one of the Key Learning Areas that we provide throughout students’ learning journey. By exploring knowledge in the strands of “Number & Algebra”, “Measures”, “Shape & Space” and “Data Handling”, students will improve their number sense and enhance their reasoning and problem-solving abilities. This not only fosters a deeper interest in mathematics but also nurtures creativity and equips them to apply mathematical principles to everyday situations.
1. Develop numerical concepts and acquire number sense through meaningful counting
2. Develop computational and problem-solving skills in line with life experiences to deal with numerical, measurement and geometric problems
3. Develop geometric concepts and skills through the study of 2D and 3D shapes
4. Solve problems in daily life through the study of money and time
5. Develop basic mathematical skills through the study of length, capacity, and weight
6. Develop students’ thinking skills and strength their ability for lifelong learning by enhancing interest in learning and mastering subject knowledge
1. Adopt situated learning to integrate students into different scenarios and enhance learning motivation
2. Leverage information technology in the classroom to enhance teaching and learning, inspiring students' enthusiasm and deepening their grasp of the knowledge
3. Utilize visual strategies and slogan prompts by incorporating colors, animations and sound cues into teaching to enhance students’ interest in learning
4. Apply multi-sensory teaching approach by utilizing a variety of sensory materials to capture students’ attention, enabling the effective delivery of knowledge
1. E-learning: A collection of educational software has been developed, featuring engaging explanations and exercises, to help students grasp mathematical concepts through enjoyable gameplay
2. RCGS videos: A series of math videos showcasing students has been created, paired with popular music to enrich the learning atmosphere in the classroom.
3. Stimulated learning: Students are given a range of situations to explore, allowing them to learn mathematics and tackle various problems
4. Multi-sensory learning: Incorporate a variety of sensory materials like sound, light, and tactile experiences to address the diverse learning needs of students, enhancing their understanding of the content
5. Life-wide learning: Students have the chance to learn beyond the classroom, allowing them to encounter diverse real-life experiences that enhance the effectiveness of their learning
6. Collaborative learning: Activities will take place throughout all key stages, encouraging students to collaboratively develop solutions to challenges in engaging and interactive scenarios
