Course purpose
1. Cultivate students' correct reading attitude, so as to train students to "learn to read" and learn from reading, and help students master "learning to learn"
2. To enhance students' generic skills in communication, learning and thinking development.
3. Cultivate temperament, foster moral sentiments, and strengthen students' sense of responsibility towards themselves, their families, and society.
4. Develop students' ability to receive and use information through various learning activities.
Course Scope
Our school's library curriculum consists of four areas: knowledge, skills, attitude and reading training.
1. Knowledge
Understand the structure, parts and functions of books; classification of books; facilities and services of school libraries/public libraries.
2. Skill
Use of library facilities and services, and training of library attendants.
3. Attitude
Library rules, reading habits and attitudes.
4. reading training
Skills and strategies for reading images and text information; cultivate reading interest and good reading habits and attitudes
Undergraduate characteristics.
1. Picture book teaching
Select suitable themed picture books, such as those with significance in children's literature, content that is relatable to everyday life, that help develop concepts and critical thinking skills, and that enrich vocabulary and expand life experiences for thematic teaching, in order to cultivate students' active exploration of knowledge and learning spirit.
2. Specialised Study Teaching
Conduct thematic study and teaching with different types of book subjects to construct key knowledge and broaden students' horizons.
3. Active teaching
In line with the library themes, design different activities to enhance students' understanding of the library content and their interest in learning.
Teaching strategies
1. Utilise diversified reading materials and teaching aids to cultivate students' interest in reading and reading abilities.
2. Regularly organise reading activities to let students experience the joy of reading and develop a love for it.
3. Every morning, set aside 20 minutes for reading time and provide various reading materials to establish students' daily reading habits and promote a culture of extensive reading.
4. Design exclusive worksheets for books to help students understand the content of the books and enhance their reading and learning abilities.
