Course Objectives

The subject Life Education strives to enhance the practical living skills of students with intellectual disabilities. Its overall objectives are as follow:

1.  Incorporate elements of "adapting to modern life with smart technology " into the curriculum to enhance practical life skills.

2.  Emphasize home-school cooperation, allowing students to consolidate what they have learned at home. Assign more homework in the form of "home training records" and add a "parent comment section" to strengthen communication.

3.  Promote Life-wide Learning and make good use of community resources.

4.      Add parts of everyday English to the course content, teaching commonly used English words according to different life situations to promote personal development.

Course Scope

Basic Education Curriculum (Primary 1 to Secondary 3)

1.      “Life Education” in our school adopts a thematic teaching method, dividing the learning content into units based on "clothing, food, housing, and transportation," and adding parts of everyday English according to the needs of life situations

Secondary Senior Curriculum (Secondary 4 to Secondary 6)

1.      The secondary-senior curriculum builds on the foundation laid in basic education, placing greater emphasis on the integrated application of students’ skills.

2.      Designed with a problem-based inquiry model, each unit begins with guiding questions that direct learning in three domains: personal development, home life, and participation in the community.

Teaching Strategies

1.      Step Analysis Method: Introduce topics through life situations, break down different life skills into easier-to-master teaching steps, and use flowcharts to help students acquire relevant skills.

2.      Image Organization: Use visual images to help students better understand what they have learned and enhance their life problem-solving abilities.

3.      Task-oriented Teaching: Encourage students to complete different tasks to enhance learning motivation.
