Humanities 

Curriculum Aims: 

• To provide students with diverse learning experiences, teaching them to understand themselves and their surrounding environment, thereby enabling a deeper understanding of the individual, family, school, society, nation, and the world. 

• To facilitate knowledge of the nation's history, geography, Chinese culture, and modern development, fostering a sense of national identity and belonging, and a commitment to contributing to the nation and the world. 

• To cultivate students' positive values and attitudes, supporting their healthy personal and social development. 

The Humanities curriculum aims to help students: 

• Grow in both physical and mental health, cultivating correct values and attitudes from a young age to become confident, rational, and responsible citizens. 

• Understand the roles they assume within the family and society and the corresponding responsibilities to be fulfilled, respect the rule of law and the spirit of law-abidingness, and contribute to the common good. 

• Understand the nation's history, geography, Chinese culture, and modern development, foster a sense of national identity and belonging, and strive to contribute to the nation and the world. 

• Pay attention to local, national, and global developments and their interconnections. 

• Through education for sustainable development, care for and protect the environment, and practice green living. 

Strands: 

The primary Humanities curriculum constructs subject knowledge, develops generic skills, and fosters positive values and attitudes through the following six strands::

Teaching Strategies: 

• Scenario-based Learning: Utilizes simulated scenarios to make acquired knowledge more concrete and to connect learning content to daily life. Through this approach, students can apply relevant knowledge and skills to effectively solve problems encountered in everyday situations. 

• Inquiry Learning: Employs various inquiry-based learning activities—such as field studies, outdoor education, and community service—that place students at the center of the learning process. This helps students integrate generic skills, knowledge, and values while learning Humanities, enabling them to actively discover, make connections, attempt problem-solving, understand solution constraints, and thereby construct knowledge and learn to resolve issues through the inquiry process. 

• E-Learning: Leverages diverse E-Learning strategies—including animations, virtual reality teaching, educational applications, e-Learning platforms, and video clips—to enhance student engagement and develop their capacity for self-directed learning.

• E-Learning: 

• Enables students to better understand electronic tools used in daily life, assisting them in adapting to the digitized community environment. 

• Students learn to use tablets and e-Learning platforms to support their studies in Humanities. 

• Connection to Daily Life: 

• Incorporates elements such as news clipping analysis, thematic reading, community exploration, visits, and worksheets into subject-specific classroom activities and assignments. 

• Encourages students to observe their surroundings in daily life, share findings in class, and ensures classroom learning is closely aligned with everyday experiences to stimulate learning interest. 

• Diverse Learning Experiences: 

• Beyond classroom learning, the Humanities subject organizes life-wide learning activities, educational visits, and workshops. 

• Aims to utilize community resources and institutional facilities to extend the learning scope beyond the classroom, thereby enriching students' learning experiences and broadening their horizons.
